This morning, Friday the 7th of December, there were reports of a “huge shooting star-like object in the sky around 6:45 a.m.”

SciGuy, in his blog, has a few pictures that people took of the mysterious object and their reports about what they saw.  Some are Facebook comments of people who saw it, others are comemnts on his blog.  Some people are taking it seriously, like Bamalan who said, “I was on I10 west bound somewhere between the state line and Beaumont. Saw a brilliant blue-green flash and trail of white. Appearred about 45-60 degrees above the horizon moving from NE to SW. Awesome sight to behold!” and others, not so seriously, like Cletus Ray Carson, who said, “Well I was grabbing a beer out of my fridge this morning and as I looked out the winda…there it was- a huge green fireball! I ran out my trailer and this huge round thing was hovering over New Caney out here, they flashed a bright light awn me like da powleece do, then they was gawn! It was something like right out dem movies!”

It wouldn’t be as disturbing if there hadn’t been another news item, this one covered by CNN this morning stating that “A powerful earthquake struck off the northeast coast of Japan on Friday evening, rattling buildings in Tokyo and setting off a small tsunami.

Mix that with the fact that December 21 is quickly approaching and I think you all know what we get.  Godzilla is coming to Texas!  Run for your lives!
